What are the Georgia Real Estate Commission’s Rules About Online Advertising?

In 2005, the Georgia Real Estate Commission revisited its rules on advertising, including Internet advertising.  (Read the Substantive Regulations 520-1-.09.)

  1. The name of the licensed firm offering the property must appear in equal or greater size, prominence, and frequency than the name or names of any affiliated licensees or groups of licensees.

  2. The name of the firm, as a logo or text, must be in equal or greater size, prominence, and frequency than the name of any affiliated licensee.

  3. The brokerage firm’s telephone number shall appear in equal or greater size, prominence, and frequency than the telephone number of any affiliated licensee or groups of licensees.

In addition, franchisees do not have to include on signs that each franchisee office is independently owned and operated. And, of course, a broker may require more stringent rules for their own licensees.
